Menu for Week of Sept. 25

In Uncategorized on September 26, 2011 at 3:38 am

Sorry for not posting at 10am like we usually (as if we’ve been doing this for a long time!) we were out of town so we couldn’t go to Campbell’s Farmers Market this morning. However, we were able to harvest some delicious veggies from my Mom’s garden and stopped by Sun Smile Farms to pick up the rest of what we will need. This weekend seemed to be the first weekend of Autumn, which means some new vegetables are out! Boy & I have a few evening events going on this week, which made planning dinner a little more tricky- but I think it will be a delicious week!

Monday – Tomato Bruschetta with Mozzarella and Basil (on toasted homemade baguette…!)
We’re going to go see one of our favorite bands in San Francisco this evening so we needed something quick and easy to prepare/eat, and most of this can be prepared in the morning.

Tuesday – Spaghetti Squash Spaghetti with an Eggplant-Zucchini-Banana Pepper-Onion-Tomato Sauce
…I think we’ll be getting our fiber in today!

Menu for Week of Sept. 18

In Menu on September 18, 2011 at 5:00 pm

This week we’ll be planning on using the ingredients we pick up today in five (5) meals, which will most likely be dinners. The weather forecast says that this week is going to be rather warm, so we’re going to plan for warm-friendly, summery dishes. We’re starting our week on Sunday, since we’ll be heading up to Girl’s parent’s house Friday after work. (Hopefully we’ll be able to score some delicious veggies from her Mom’s garden for next week!)

Welcome to our blog!

Girl and I are writing this blog for a number of reasons.

1) We love fresh, delicious, local foods.

2 )We have had trouble in the past with figuring out what to do with what we find at Farmers’ Markets.

3) Since relocating to the Bay Area, work, school and commuting takes up a large portion of our day. Debating figuring out what we want to eat each night takes up another portion of our day- and then figuring out what we had on hand and what we needed to still pick up means that we are not eating dinner until very late (and sometimes when we give up, we call cereal dinner).

In order to motivate ourselves into buying more delicious, fresh, foods and actually using them before they go south, we’ve decided to blog about our Farmers’ Market adventures so that (hopefully) you can benefit from our experiences.
