Menu for Week of October 2

Week 3! Before we get into any delicious food decisions we wanted to say a few things. Firstly, we’re quite proud that we have been able to continue this each week, and stick to our menu! Secondly, the more we get the hang of this, the more pictures, recipes and during-week-blog posts we’ll have. We’re kind of busy, so let’s just say we’re lucky that we’re able to do this! …Although it really is helping us out through the week. Pretty much the only thing Boy and I ever ‘argued’ about was what to have for dinner… now we just enjoy the food a billion times more because we didn’t take all night figuring out what we wanted!
This week is the start of Autumn here in the Bay Area. The leaves are finally falling and blowing around in the wind, the sky is filling up with puffy clouds, and we’re no longer sweating and craving a glass of Rosé as soon as we get home. We’re supposed to get our first rain this week too! All very exciting, saying autumn is our favorite season, I mean honestly, who doesn’t love crockpot dinners?? Plus, this means it’s boot season again. I love boots. And beer. And bratwursts. And pretzels.(yeah, I’ve got Octoberfest on the mind…)

Anyway… Here is this week’s menu!

Sunday – Heirloom Tomatoes, Basil, Homemade French Bread and Homemade Mozzarella (Yes, we’re diving into making cheese! Recipe can be found here!)

**Update: Huge success! This cheese is absolutely amazing, and really easy to make! I don’t think I’ll ever buy mozzarella again, unless I’m in a pinch!)

Monday- Portobello Ravioli and Summer Squash (A repeat recipe, but an all time favorite. Plus, Monday nights call for a simple yummy dish sometimes, you know, to start the week off right.)

Tuesday- Mascarpone, Prosciutto  and Fig Pizza (We’re making this one up as we go… I don’t think we can go wrong?)

Wednesday- Cauliflower Soup and Homemade Bread (70% Chance of rain. Soup it is!)

Thursday- Pork Chops with Homemade Apple Sauce.

Friday- Spaghetti Squash Spaghetti (We have a ton of leftover sauce from last week… Plus, it’s delicious as leftovers!)

What to buy:

Figs
Apples
Basil
Tomatoes
Spaghetti Squash
Assorted Summer Squash
Cauliflower
