Menu for Week of October 16th

In Menu on October 16, 2011 at 10:16 pm

This week is all sorts of crazy. Firstly, on Thursday right after work and school, we’re flying down to visit Boy’s parents in Southern California. So, this week is cut way short! Unfortunately, the TSA won’t let us bring our mounds of veggies on the plane to cook while we’re there, so I suppose we’ll just have to figure something else out. (Boy’s parents are great cooks, so I’m sure our tummys will be happy!) Secondly, Boy had to work today (boo!) so I was left without my trusty sidekick. I suppose if this was the other way around and Boy was planning by himself, we probably would end up with a menu with bacon every single night. I’m not sure if thats a bad thing or not… I’ll let you decide.

OH! And today was also super funky! I arrived at the Farmers Market as usual, but parking was horrible! Finally, I found a spot and went on it. But I didn’t see any vegetables. I saw funnel cake, and corn dogs, and weird booths set up with face painting, stuffed animals, carnival rides and a Hooters booth?? Apparently, downtown Campbell has Oktoberfest during the time Farmers Market usually is, so I couldn’t get any fresh vegetables this week. Bummer. So, I went to the next best thing – Trader Joes! (I know, I should have found some sort of co-op or what not, but honestly, I didn’t feel inspired to look for one…) Read the rest of this entry »

Menu for Week of October 2

In Menu on October 2, 2011 at 10:35 am

Week 3! Before we get into any delicious food decisions we wanted to say a few things. Firstly, we’re quite proud that we have been able to continue this each week, and stick to our menu! Secondly, the more we get the hang of this, the more pictures, recipes and during-week-blog posts we’ll have. We’re kind of busy, so let’s just say we’re lucky that we’re able to do this! …Although it really is helping us out through the week. Pretty much the only thing Boy and I ever ‘argued’ about was what to have for dinner… now we just enjoy the food a billion times more because we didn’t take all night figuring out what we wanted!
This week is the start of Autumn here in the Bay Area. The leaves are finally falling and blowing around in the wind, the sky is filling up with puffy clouds, and we’re no longer sweating and craving a glass of Rosé as soon as we get home. We’re supposed to get our first rain this week too! All very exciting, saying autumn is our favorite season, I mean honestly, who doesn’t love crockpot dinners?? Plus, this means it’s boot season again. I love boots. And beer. And bratwursts. And pretzels.(yeah, I’ve got Octoberfest on the mind…)

Menu for Week of Sept. 18

In Menu on September 18, 2011 at 5:00 pm

This week we’ll be planning on using the ingredients we pick up today in five (5) meals, which will most likely be dinners. The weather forecast says that this week is going to be rather warm, so we’re going to plan for warm-friendly, summery dishes. We’re starting our week on Sunday, since we’ll be heading up to Girl’s parent’s house Friday after work. (Hopefully we’ll be able to score some delicious veggies from her Mom’s garden for next week!)
